I just wanted to post some details of the two new pet portrait commissions that I’ve had the pleasure of painting over the last couple of weeks.
First up, meet Amos.
Unfortunately, Amos is no longer with us. This is always a sensitive subject, and being a dog owner myself I can really understand just how much these guys mean to us. They’re family, and it leaves a very big hole when they leave us. It’s such a shame that they aren’t with us for longer, but then that’s all the more reason to give them as much love as they give us. I’m always reminded of the quote “They’re only part of your life, but you are all of theirs”.
I’ve also started to paint heavenly dogs without their collars or harnesses etc. To me, this signifies that they’re now free to roam wherever they choose. With any luck, they’ll stop by and check in on us from time to time.
Next up, we have Frankie the Cockerpoo
Now obviously I’m very biased towards cockerpoos seeing as I own one, and the photos that Frankie’s owner sent across didn’t disappoint. They really showed his joyous character, love of his humans, and irrepressible curiosity. He looks so regal standing on his rock. With that in mind, and as a shout out to all of those majestic stag paintings, I’ve called this portrait “Monarch of the Rock”.
I have a few more paintings in the works at the moment that I’ll release in due course, so keep an eye out for any updates!
